The piercing blue chunks of ice floating in the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon are quite a spectacular sight. In this tour, you’ll travel in an SUV from Reykjavík. We’ll start, bright and early, along with the south coast of Iceland and all the way to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon beneath Vatnajökull Glacier. The south coast in itself is a wonderful route and you’ll see many other wonders of nature along the way. It’s a long tour but we’ll have you back around 21:00 – 22:00.

The great thing about this tour is that you’ll see everything that’s in the South Coast tour but then go much further. We pick you up in Reykjavík and head out to see Seljalandsfoss waterfall with a short stop in Hvolsvöllur for a bathroom / snack break. Seljalandsfoss is very special because you can walk behind it (rain coats recommended). After that, we’ll go see another waterfall; Skógafoss. It’s a magnificent waterfall and you can walk up a path to see it from above. We’ll drive to the black sand beach, Reynisfjara where you can see the Reynisdrangar rock formations after you see Dyrhólaey. We’ll stop in Vík for lunch. After lunch, we´ll go to Skaftafell with a short stop first at Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Finally, we go to see the magnificent Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon! You´ll have plenty of time to explore the area and after that we´ll head back to Reykjavík with short bathroom / snack stops along the way. In the winter time we´ll hunt the northern lights! On the drive home you´ll be glad that our cars have free wifi so you can post pictures and videos from the tour. Of course, this is a guided tour so you´ll have the luxury of a knowledgeable guide that will tell you everything about the sites and interesting things along the way.

OUR REVIEWS FOR THE TOUR

We took about 3 tours with Hopferdir. Guðjón, our driver came guide for all tour was just fantastic. The 2 private tours were the Snaefellsness Peninsula and Blue Lagoon/Reykjanes Peninsula.

Guðjón was very knowledgeable about the area and we learnt a lot about the places, Icelandic culture, people, politics, history etc. from him. He was very considerate and made sure that my parents were comfortable on the long drives. He also took us to a grocery store on the first day which I felt was extremely kind of him. And he even made many unscheduled stops on the minibus tour which felt like private.

Lilja, at the Hopferdir office, helped me with all the tour info and was very prompt and helpful. I highly recommend this company for all your tours in Iceland. Its totally worth the money spent.
